The Arrival of the Bride: Bridal March - Wagner
Welcome
All say: God of wonder and of joy: grace comes from you,
and you alone are the source of life and love.
Without you, we cannot please you;
without your love, our deeds are worth nothing.
Send your Holy Spirit, and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, that we may worship you now with thankful hearts and serve you always with willing minds;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymn: Morning has broken
Morning has broken like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
fresh from the Word!
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven,
like the first dew-fall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation, praise ev`ry morning,
God's re-creation of the new day!

The Declarations
The minister says to the bridegroom
Wesley, will you take Victoria to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort her, honour and protect her, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?
He answers
I will.
The minister says to the bride
Victoria, will you take Wesley to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour and protect him, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?
She answers
I will.
The minister says to the congregation
Will you, the families and friends of Wesley and Victoria support and uphold them in their marriage now and in the years to come?
All respond: We will.
Bible reading: Mark 10. 6-9 and 13-16Jesus said, From the beginning of creation, `God made them male and female.' `For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.'
People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, 'Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.' And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.
Reading: On our wedding day, read by William HoughtonToday is a day you will always remember
The greatest in anyones life
You'll start the day just two people in love
And end it as husband and wife
It's a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure
You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken
So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper 'I do'
And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find it's way to your hearts?
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts. (Author Unknown)
Reading: Footprints in the Sand, read by Susan Glynn
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. 'Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most, you would leave me.'
The Lord replied, ' My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.'

Prayers after the marriage
After each section the minister says
Lord of life and love:
All reply: hear our prayer.
Faithful God, holy and eternal, source of life and spring of love, we thank and praise you for bringing Wesley and Victoria to this day, and we pray for them.
May their marriage be life-giving and life-long, enriched by your presence and strengthened by your grace; may they bring comfort and confidence to each other in faithfulness and trust.
May the hospitality of their home bring refreshment and joy to all around them; may their love overflow to neighbours in need and embrace those in distress.
May they discern in your word order and purpose for their lives; and may the power of the Holy Spirit lead them in truth and defend them in adversity.
May they nurture their family with devotion, see Elizabeth grow in body, mind and spirit, and come at last to the end of their lives with hearts content and in joyful anticipation of heaven.
Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Hymn: One More Step Along The World I goOne more step along the world I go,
one more step along the world I go.
From the old things to the new
keep me travelling along with you:
(Chorus) And it's from the old I travel to the new;
keep me travelling along with you.
Round the corners of the world I turn,
more and more about the world I learn.
All the new things that I see
you'll be looking at along with me:
(Chorus)
As I travel through the bad and good,
keep me travelling the way I should.
Where I see no way to go,
you'll be telling me the way, I know:
(Chorus)
Give me courage when the world is rough,
keep me loving though the world is tough.
Leap and sing in all I do,
keep me travelling along with you:
(Chorus)
You are older than the world can be,
you are younger than the life in me.
Ever old and ever new,
keep me travelling along with you:
(Chorus)
Blessing
God the Holy Trinity make you strong in faith and love, defend you on every side, and guide you in truth and peace; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
